Beach Bars Near Our Beach House: A North-Coast Pick

Published 24 April 2026 · 5 min read

A question that arrives most weeks during summer: "We're staying at the beach house — where should we go for sunset drinks?" The honest answer has three tiers. Five minutes down the beach. A half-hour drive if you want the iconic Corfu sunset shot. An hour's drive if the evening is really about the bar, not the bed afterwards.

Here's the shortlist, in the order of "closest to the beach house first".

Walking Distance from Our Beach House

Aloha Beach Bar

Acharavi — five minutes along the beach

The easy answer. Tropical palapa roofing, a ping-pong table that's in constant use from about 4 pm, and a cocktail list that's better than the beach-bar average. The crowd shifts cleanly — families until around 7 pm, then a quieter thirties-and-forties set who've come in from the apartments and hotels along the shore. Open through to mid-October, which matters if you're visiting in shoulder season.

Host's note: You don't need a car for Aloha. Walk along the shingle, and you're there in about eight minutes from the beach house gate. The walk back after dark is safe and easy — lit by the tavernas and the bar itself.

A Short Drive — the East-Coast Bars

Both of these are between 30 and 45 minutes from Acharavi, on the east-coast road. Best if you've already been in the Barbati–Kassiopi area during the day and want to close the day out with a drink before heading back.

Akron Beach Bar

Barbati — 35 minutes from the beach house

The most polished beach bar on the east coast. A wooden deck built above Barbati's white pebbles, a grown-up cocktail list, and a Mediterranean kitchen that makes it an easy choice for dinner-and-drinks in one visit. Book for Friday or Saturday nights in July and August.

Edem Beach Bar

Dassia — 45 minutes

A chic all-day spot that shifts gear gracefully from morning coffee to evening cocktails. The loungers are comfortable enough that some guests end up spending the day and just never leaving. Quieter crowd than the west-coast party bars.

Worth the Drive — the West-Coast Sunset Trio

An hour to an hour and fifteen minutes from Acharavi, depending on traffic on the mountain road through Troumpetas. Worth planning as an evening in itself — dinner somewhere in the Paleokastritsa area, then the bar.

La Grotta

Paleokastritsa

The beach bar you've seen on Instagram. A small cove reached by a stepped path off the road, with tables stacked on platforms above the water. Sunset cocktails on the upper terrace; a floodlit swim afterwards if you've brought a towel. Doesn't take reservations — arrive before 7 pm in summer or stand.

7th Heaven Café

Lakones, above Paleokastritsa

Up a narrow mountain road above Paleokastritsa — the best overview of the bays anywhere in northwest Corfu. Not a beach bar strictly, but an unbeatable sunset viewpoint with a proper kitchen. Drive up slowly; the road is worth the care.

Pazuzu Beach Bar

Glyfada Beach

DJ-led, party energy, the west coast's main late-night anchor. Not what we'd recommend to couples celebrating an anniversary — but the right answer if you've got a group in their twenties or early thirties and want the Corfu party version of an evening.

Sunset Timing

From Acharavi the west-coast bars are really an evening trip, not an after-dinner afterthought. In July and August, aim to leave the beach house by 6:30 pm to be in place an hour before sunset (around 8:45 pm). Early October, leave by 5:30 pm — sunset drops to around 7 pm.

Getting Back Safely

Greek drink-driving limits are strict and enforced. If you're driving out to a bar, decide before you order the first drink who's the designated driver — or plan to taxi. Taxis back from Paleokastritsa to Acharavi cost around €50–70 depending on the hour and are scarcer between 11 pm and 1 am in August.

A Rental Car for the Day

Our rental-car partner, Herbie, delivers straight to the beach house — useful when you want to beach-hop during the day and leave the car parked while someone else handles the evening drive. Friendly local operation; fair prices.

If You're Still Planning the Trip

If the idea of walking five minutes to Aloha for a cocktail and walking back with your feet in the shingle sounds like the kind of holiday you want, our beach house in Acharavi is built around exactly that rhythm. If you prefer to be in the Old Town with different evening options on your doorstep, the town house gives you that instead.
